There are innumerable hazards lurking in a workplace that can cause different kinds of physical injury or harm and can result in loss of manpower, increased medical expenses, and more claims for coverage. The workplace always faces the risk of both obvious and obscure hazards and these risks become potential hazards if care is not taken. A number of control measures should be taken to avoid the risks of these hazards and one of the fist steps is in the direction of eliminating the hazard at the root or if it is not possible then substitutes the hazard for one that is not. Enclosing the hazard is also another way of ensuring safety in a workplace and if enclosing is not possible then isolation is the next best method. Regular maintenance, skilled professionals and personal protection equipments are other safety measures that can be taken in a workplace to make it hazard free.
